When restaurants need to reimagine their space, many turn to a new coat of paint or the addition of décor like plants. Others might try different upholstery on the chairs or invest in new utensils and plates to create a different atmosphere.
However, one of the most powerful ways to craft the ideal experience in a restaurant is by utilizing custom acrylic installations—and that is what Tree Towns achieved for The Vine Room in a recent collaboration.
The Vine Room
The Vine Room restaurant is located at 465 5th Ave S in Naples, FL. As an elevated cocktail lounge offering fine wine and small plate dining, it is important to owner Philip McCabe that The Vine Room communicate an air of sophistication and decadence.
In order to achieve this goal, Tree Towns worked with McCabe and Knauer Inc, the project architect, to develop custom acrylic slats that would seamlessly surround the lower section of the main bar.
This change to one of the space’s focal points was intended to upgrade the space without requiring the use of additional square footage for decorations; instead, existing attributes would be upgraded to become a better version of themselves.
A Custom Acrylic Reimagining
One of the first things that all parties agreed on was that the custom acrylic surrounding the bar should be backlit to draw attention to the elegance of the piece and provide soft, comfortable ambient light. The concept called for a finish that mimicked the look of honey onyx granite.
To achieve the desired result, Tree Towns purchased a honey onyx tile, then scanned it using a high-resolution fine art scanner. With a high-quality image capture in hand, the pros then manipulated the artwork to build in randomization, so each individual slat looked unique.
This resulted in an organically pleasing creation that was truly custom and exclusive, no matter which angle customers were viewing from.
In addition, very late in the project schedule, the owner contacted the Tree Towns team with a substantial strike of last-minute inspiration. McCabe hoped to requisition 20 full-size sheets of mirrored acrylic with a bronze finish.
This was a large order with a far-reaching scope so late in the project, but the professionals at Tree Towns are well positioned to respond to such requests. Leveraging their industry connections, Tree Towns was able to get the material at the project site in time to be installed prior to the restaurant’s grand opening.
What a fantastic last-minute addition it turned out to be! Mirrored acrylic is so flexible that once it was installed, holes could be drilled through the material for the hardware necessary to hang framed art pieces to further elevate the space. Below the art, the honey onyx bar slats reflect in the mirrored acrylic.
One significant advantage of the materials that Tree Towns used for the project is their versatility. In addition to hanging fine art in front of the mirrored acrylic, this type of paneling can be custom cut on-site to ensure that all necessary fixtures and lighting can stay in their normal locations.
This ensures that the space is properly lit and that the reimagined décor does not come at the cost of guest comfort or the utility of the space.
The Owner’s Response
Owner and general manager Philip McCabe was highly pleased with the quality of the materials Tree Towns supplied, as well as the team’s responsiveness to the project’s tight deadlines and their inspired approach to The Vine Room’s goals. He said:
“Tree towns played a pivotal role in the design direction and overall visual stimulation of our interior decor at The Vine Room. The team was extremely responsive and helpful in making decisions related to the specifications of the acrylic panels we purchased for a commercial setting. It was important for us to have a great look but also the durability needed for a luxury cocktail bar use, and we were able to achieve this with Tree Towns’ help.”
